The Institute is proud to offer a full roster of high quality, curriculum-driven, outdoor and environmental education experiences for the students of the Bluewater District School Board. Contact us to find out what we can do for your students!
Roughly 4,0000 students experience the great outdoors on our 320 acre site and the surrounding UNESCO Biosphere Reserve each year.
It is our goal to bring classroom learning to life through hands-on experience in the great outdoors! In addition to curriculum support, our programs incorporate:
-character education,
-connections with nature,
-the importance of healthy active living,
-community building, and
-leadership.
The IOEES assists in enhancing classroom learning through a combination of day excursions, and residential and camping programs offered to school and community groups.
The Institute programs are recognized as foremost in the province. In 2004, the IOEES was recognized by the Council for Outdoor Educators of Ontario with the presentation of the Robin Dennis Award. This award celebrates excellence in the field of, and outstanding contributions to Outdoor Education. To be recognized this way, by fellow leaders in the field of Outdoor Education was a great honour.
The recent opening of our new classroom, dorm, and dining facilities means we can offer extended learning opportunities through our weekend and off-season rentals. Our site is available for conferences and retreats. Contact us to find out more about our facility,property and fees.
