BOEC Staff

Deborah Diebel
Deb joined the BOEC in September 2001 after teaching high school for a year in Shelburne, Ontario. Deb is a graduate of the University of Waterloo where she studied Environment and Resource Studies, and more recently Nipissing University where she earned her Bachelor of Education. She has worked with Ontario Parks, the Canadian Wildife Service and at various outdoor education centres. Deb first fell in love with the Bruce in 1994 when she worked under an Environmental Youth Corp grant at the Cabot Head Lightstation and visited the BOEC as a guest of the Bruce Peninsula Environment Group. Deb enjoys trying new things, and is actively involved in many community organizations such as the BrucePeninsula Bird Observatory, the Rankin Resource Group, and the Owen Sound Field Naturalists. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, canoeing, and visiting with friends.

Peter Allemang
Peter's canoe dipped into the BOEC stream after paddling the Bluewater District  and Cape Croker School Board rivers since 1997. After being immersed in a B.A. (1991) from Goshen College (U.S.A.), he dove into working with teens and into a current of Native and Non-Native history courses at Wilfrid Laurier University. Peter also explored conventional and eco-friendly house construction courses in far-away places. When he's not enjoying waterways or pathways, Peter puts the finishing (?) touches on the eco-friendly home he and his family built. He likes learning about nature with his wife Erin and daughter Talia at their home port on the Bruce Trail north of Wiarton.
