Bluewater Ed. Foundation

The Bluewater Education Foundation works to develop and implement school improvement initiatives, create model programs, award grants, bursaries and scholarships, and leverage community resources to support, strengthen and improve education for learners of all ages in Bruce and Grey Counties.
The flagship initiative of the foundation is the redevelopment and continued sustainability of the Bluewater Outdoor Education Centre.

Why do we need to raise funds?
Historically, government grants have not been available for Outdoor Education facilities. New requirements of the BOEC demand an expanded and enhanced facility. Capital funding must be supplied through Board reserves and through the private sector. For this purpose the Bluewater Education Foundation was established. Our goal is to replace the current temporary facilities with more versatile, permanent buildings.

Challenges and Benefits
Included in the Inspired by Nature Campaign was the replacement of the classrooms, dormitories, and kitchen and dining facilities. This will be our legacy to the succeeding generations of our two counties and our province.
Phase 1 of this project, which included dorms, kitchen and dining facilities, was completed in 2006. Phase II of this project, which included the building of new classrooms, was completed in 2007.
Phase III of this project, which included refurbishing the heritage barn, was completed in 2008.
Phase IV of this project, which included updates to the Mason house, was completed in 2018

Our current initiative is to establish an endowment fund to ensure the long-term sustainability of the BOEC.
